On Tuesday morning a Pasco School District bus taking 16 students to Pasco High School was involved in an accident when a semi truck at the 4th Street exit from I 182 struck the rear of the bus. Another bus driver who witnessed the accident immediately called the transportation supervisor who called 911. Emergency services personnel and district staff arrived at the scene. The Pasco Police Department and the Washington State Patrol are investigating the accident. Pasco Fire Department paramedics evaluated the bus driver and students at the scene. The bus driver was taken to Lourdes Medical Center. Students were released and transported to Pasco High School. Following a second evaluation by the school nurse, six students were transported to Lourdes Medical Center to be treated for complaints of minor injuries. The rest of the students returned to class or went home with their parents. All parents of students on the bus have been notified. Letters are also being sent home recommending students see their family doctor for a follow-up exam.
